Elementary School in Colorado donated generously to the Somali famine
Executive Dircetor of SOMCARE Mr. Abdi Muse Maahay accepted the funds collected by the students on behalf of SOMCARE. Mr. Maahay thanked the school and students for their efforts to assist their fellow human beings who are affected by drought and famine in Somalia.
Mr. Maahay reminded the student that their efforts to alleviate the suffering of the victims of the famine will be remembered by the people of Somalia and it is efforts like this that brings communities that are far apart closer. “The efforts, intentions and thoughts of students in Centennial Elementary School to donate their savings for this humanitarian cause is worth emulating everywhere in the globe” said Mr. Maahay.
Similarly, the principal of Centennial Elementary school Ms. Jan R. Jervis acknowledged the efforts and contribution made by every student in the school. “Students in kindergarten who are as young as six years old took part in this fund raising initiative to help their fellow human beings who are affected by the famine” said Ms. Jan Jervis.
Other notable speakers who thanked the students for their efforts included the chair of the Somali community in Denver, Colorado Mr. Mohamed Nur, as well as Abdullahi Ali of Centennial elementary school.
